Wine🍷

Ancient Egyptian inventions

Wine
During the ancient Egyptian times, the Egyptians created wine back then the wine was considered food because of what it was made of. When the wine was made it was only for the royal family, unlike beer. The wine was mostly consumed during festival and at banquets, the lower classes would get there shear of wine during public feasts like the feasts of the harvest-goddess renenutet. The wine was also used as a medicine. It was good to cover-up the gross taste of some of the medicine. You could have used it for cough syrup and apparently, it helped with dressing wounds.

Stone age cave art

Image result for stone age artImage result for stone age art

During the stone age to make cave art or to make art on a rock/ stone wall, they would use there hands as there paintbrushes and maybe they could have used sticks too. For the paint, they would use mud, berries and I think to get the dark brown-red colour the could have used blood. Back in the stone age, you would have been able to find the art in caves and under little cave-like shelters which would have been by there homes most likely. Nowadays you can find them in the same spots but they will just be faded in more.

29.08.19
Today in social studies we had a go at making our own cave art and we did it all on the walls in the classroom. The walls were coved in a little bit of sand and brown-reds pra paint to give it texture so it could kind of fell like we were painting on a stone wall. The art I did was like a little battle during the day and then someone died. I think the sand really helps give it texture but it was a bit hard to get the paint on without wiping the sand off.

vegetarian sushi🍣

In cooking last week we made vegetarian sushi. In it, we had the choice of capsicums, carrot, cucumber and avocado, we could also add a little bit of mayo and wasabi id we wanted. When making the sushi roll we had to be careful not to get rice or anything sticky in the sushi roller because then the next person after us wouldn't be able to use it. During the cooking time, I think our team done well when it came to actually make the food but when we had to listen to the teacher some of us weren't too focus.
Note:
We were meant to take a photo or get someone in the group to take a photo but our group forgot so I don't have a photo of the food we made. Instead, I got one of the internet.

fish n chips

last week in cooking we made fish n chips. When making this we use different types of potatoes to make the chips and we seasoned them is salt, pepper and marocain seasoning. For the fish, we used hoki so this fish didn't fall apart we cooked it a little bit frozen and it still stayed together, to season this we used salt and pepper on top of the fish we put mayo and so panko breadcrumbs which had lemon and oil mixed into it. That day nothing we cooked was fried it was all baked with a little bit of oil, salt and pepper. to package it we made a paper cone and put the food in them.
Teamwork:
When doing this our teamwork was good and we worked well together. last week was the first week that all our team was there so it was the first time we all worked together. I think next time we might just need to plan out properly and decide whos doing what.

Technology 👩‍💻

In social studies, we have been learning about tech and change. So how technology has changed over the years and what impact it has had on us now. When starting this topic we had to list 20 ways technology has changed and we made a slideshow about it. Then we moved on to making a poster about phones and what they first looked like to what they look like now and we have to add the year the phone was released and a picture of the phone. During this time we had some homework to do which was monitoring our screen time, and that didn't just mean our phones we also had to estimate how long we would watch tv or go on a computer anything that had a device screen we had to time or guess how long we were on it.

I did my timeline wrong and put some things in the wrong place on accident.

1973- In 1973 the first call with a handheld device was made.
1983-In 1983 this phone was sold for approximately 4000 dollars.
2000- The Nokia was the first phone to fit into your pocket and was the first phone to be able to search the web.
2002- The sidekick brought phones into the mainstream. The keypad pulled out from behind the screen.
2002- The first flip phone could be sold for 400 dollars and the camera could capture at shots 640 x 480 pixels.
2004- By 2004, cell phone companies were competing in full force to make the phone not only function better but look better.
2007- the first iPhone was made. At this time the blackberry was still the most popular phone.
2008-A year after the first iPhone was made apple lunch the apple store with 500 apps.
2010- The iPhone 4 was released and it had better battery life.
2011- In 2011 the blackberry phone was made.
2018 the iPhone x was made.

Technics 🎨

In art, we have been learning about street art and look at some artist. I think we have been learning this so we can learn new technics and different styles. Because of this, we ended up look at symbols and their meanings, we ended up having to create our own stencils or copied one off the internet and had a go at making a stencil. Because we couldn't use spray paint we had to find another way to make the effect of spray paint, so some of us used sponges and some used paintbrushes or a little squeezy bottle, I used the sponge. We did this for a few weeks and once everyone had done at least one then we moved on to learning something new that can help us with stencilling. We moved on to learning painting technics like blending, glaze, texture and monoprint we did this to make sure everyone had a little bit of an understanding of how to do some paint technics. If we had finished all four of those early then you were allowed to move on to looking an artist that we had previously looked and try and do a section of there art and incorporate the technics we had learnt and practised.

jam drops

In home economics last week I wasn't at school that week and we made jam drops. Jam drops are a type of biscuit that is like a kind of shortbread dough with a drop of jam in the middle top of the dough. I tried to find where they originated from but all I found were recipes, then I search jam biscuits and it said Ireland but I think they might be different to jam drops.
Because I wasn't here I don't know what recipe my class used so I found one of the internet:https://www.newideafood.com.au/traditional-jam-drops

Traditional jam drops
Ingredients
  1. 2 ½ cups self-raising flour

½ x 395 g tin sweetened condensed milk
½ cup caster sugar
250 g butter, softened
⅓ cup jam (we used raspberry)
Method
  1. Preheat oven to 190°C and line a baking tray with baking paper. Sift the flour into the mixing bowl, then throw in all the other ingredients into the bowl (except the jam).
  1. Stir in an electric mixer on medium speed for approximately 1 minute until the dough is combined.
  1. Roll into small 3-4cm balls and place onto the lined baking tray.
  1. Using your thumb (or the back of a teaspoon) press a small indentation into the top of each biscuit.
  1. Spoon in a small amount of jam (about 1/2 a teaspoon) into each little well.
  1. Bake in the pre-heated oven for 15 minutes or until golden. Watch your oven as they could need a little more or less time – just wait until you have a good colour on them.
  1. Remove biscuits from oven and allow to cool on a rack before eating. Put that kettle on for a cup of tea!
