Michale Mew

In art, we were looking at Michale Mews artwork and how he would use his space and colours. When we were learning about him we had to make an artwork that was similar to his style and we had to use different textures from magazines. When making this we had to incorporate a bird into our work I decided to incorporate the Mohua bird into my work. I tried to make it the focal point put then when it was done I added coloured blocks in the background.  When I did this I wasn't too sure if that was the focal point or not so I think they are both focal points.

Once I was finished my work I took a photo of it and put it on an app called paint 3D.  On this app, I played around with the colours and the background and I decided to add a black background and this is the result I got. This come out better than I thought it would an I really like the end result of it.

Savory Scrolls🥐🥐

Ingredients

Plain flour 1 1/2 cups
baking powder 3 teaspoons
salt 1/2 teaspoon
cold butter 50 grams
tasty cheese 1 cup grated
spring onions 1 trimmed
parsley Tablespoon
milk 1/2 cup

filling

ham 1 large slice torn
cheese 1 1/2 cup grated
herbs 1-2 tablespoons
milk 1/4 cup to glaze

method

preheat the oven to 210c. grease a large baking tray

  1. Sift dry ingredients together. make a well and grate butter into the centre (use a cheese grater). rub butter into the flour. Add cheese, spring onions and parsley and mix.
  2. Use a butter knife to cut milk into the mix. reserving 1/4 cup until near the end (you may not need it) work quickly, adding just enough milk for the dough to bind.
  3. Tip onto floured board and pat together; don't over-handle or the dough will be tough. Flatten into a loose rectangle then roll out to about 1cm thick.
  4.  Add filling along the edge of the roll. Roll up from the long side to make one long roll. With seam side down, cut into 2cm-thick slice and place on tray. Brush with milk and bake for 12 mins or until golden and just cooked through.
Mise en place
Before we start cooking we are going to prepare all our food and cut everything up that needs to be cut up. We are also going to collect all the utensils and cutlery that we need.

What do will I do next time:
Next time I will make sure to read the resipie properly because I added the wrong ingredient into the batter when I wasnt to. ( It still tasted good)
What I learnt:
while making this I learnt that you need to add the right amount of milk or else you could reck your batter like if you add to much milk it will be too runny but if you don't add enough it will be to dry.

supergirl

A message from Supergirl, Welcome to earth is that the aliens are the outcast and because of that the humans don't like them or what some of them stand for. This is because they are different and humans aren't used to seeing them and don't know what ones are the good ones and what ones are the bad ones so they just assume that they are all bad. We saw this in the scene where Maggie took Alex to the bar that is for aliens. Alex showed this because she didn't know that it existed or that it was for aliens and when she noticed that it was she started to worry and reached for her gun because she didn't know if any of them were bad or safe to be around. This is why I think it is important not to judge people on their appearance rather than there actions because someone could look like they are bad or will cause trouble but they could be the total opposite and be good.

DNA🔬

🔬DNA 🔬

What is DNA?
The structure of deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) in the same as all living things. It is said that it looks like a twisted ladder (non-scientific) it can also be known as a double helix which is the scientific name for it. DNA is made up of simple repeating units called nucleotides. A nucleotide is made up of sugar, a phosphate and some type of base. A DNA strand side is made up of sugar and phosphate these are joined together by chemicals called nucleotide base.
DNA replication?
DNA replication is when a DNA clones itself during cell division (Cell division is when a parent cell divides into two more daughter cells). When the enzyme unwinds the parent DNA new nucleotides are brought in. When in they bond with the base that is on the parent DNA, because of this they end up bonding together to create a new strand. When this process is finished in the end there will be two more new molecules of DNA. These new DNA molecules are both exact copies of the original molecule.
I got this information from:https://www.yourgenome.org/facts/what-is-dna-replication
Double helix mad out of pipe cleaners:
Double helix: a pair of parallel helices intertwined about a common axis, especially that in the structure of the DNA molecule.

Aim: to make a double helix out of pipe cleaners Succesful.

Equipment: Red, Blue, Yellow and green pipe cleaners, scissors.
Method:

  1. Find some pipe cleaners.
  2. Separate the pipe cleaners into colour coordination piles.
  3. Get you blue and red pipe cleaners and twist them around each other. (do it twice)
  4. Twist the yellow and green pipe cleaners around each other.
  5. Cut the green and yellow pipe cleaner into 7-8 cm size.
  6. Lay both the red and blue pipe cleaners side by side so they are parallel from each other.
  7. Put the green and yellow pipe cleaners in between them.
  8. Connect them at the ends.
Observation:
While making double helix this I found it hard to get the right length.
What I might do next time?
If I was to do this again I think I would want to do something more challenging like extracting DNA from fruit instead of making something out of pipe cleaners. If I had to make a pipe cleaner one again I would like to get the colours different so they are more similar to a real DNA strand.

slave trade tri

In the past couple of weeks in social studies, we have been learning about the slave trade triangle. We had to make a map of all the place they would go to and stop off at.
